J'ai fait une installation propre d'Ubuntu 20.04 et il ne reconnaît pas mon deuxième moniteur.

J'ai déjà exécuté les commandes suivantes (je crois que seules celles-ci fonctionnaient dans la version 19.10) :

J'ai rencontré le même problème avec un ordinateur portable nvidia RTX 2060 (MSI GS65). Le moniteur externe connecté via DisplayPort ne s'affiche pas du tout dans les paramètres d'ubuntu, mais il est reconnu si je regarde les paramètres de nvidia. Il y a une déconnexion quelque part.

J'ai rétrogradé vers le pilote nvidia-435, et cela a bien fonctionné. Il y a quelque chose qui n'a pas été testé avec le pilote 440. Il suffit de rétrograder pour l'instant et de voir si cela aide.

J'ai eu le même problème : Hier, j'ai décidé d'installer mon nouvel ordinateur portable (ThinkPad P72 avec GPU NVIDIA).

Tout d'abord, j'étais content : il n'y avait aucun problème avec le GPU NVIDIA lorsque j'ai installé Ubuntu 20.04. J'étais content, car j'ai eu un problème avec Ubuntu 18.04 sur un autre ordinateur portable : j'ai dû passer au pilote par défaut pour pouvoir installer Ubuntu 18.04 sur le système, sinon l'installation s'est soudainement arrêtée.

Mais lorsque j'ai démarré Ubuntu 20.04 à la maison et que j'ai voulu connecter mon ordinateur portable à un moniteur externe pour des raisons de commodité, le raccourci habituel "Windows+P" n'a pas fonctionné, car il ne pouvait pas détecter le moniteur externe. Il n'y avait pas non plus de deuxième moniteur lorsque j'ai ouvert "Paramètres-->Affichages"

Ma solution a été de revenir du pilote NVIDIA 440 au 435 en cliquant sur "Activités --> Logiciels et mises à jour --> Pilotes supplémentaires". Un redémarrage a également été nécessaire pour qu'Ubuntu utilise la version 435 du pilote.

Maintenant je peux choisir le moniteur à utiliser avec "Windows+P" après le démarrage et j'utilise mon moniteur externe en ce moment :)

Il semble donc que le pilote NVIDIA 440 doive être mis à jour pour mieux fonctionner avec Ubuntu 20.04.

J'ai rencontré le même problème sur mon ordinateur portable (Dell G5 5500 avec NVIDIA RTX 2060 comme GPU). J'ai résolu le problème en désactivation du démarrage sécurisé dans les options du BIOS.

J'ai rencontré le même problème sur mon ordinateur portable double carte (Dell G5 5587) Ubuntu 20.04.

Dans mon cas, le problème venait de snapd. J'ai purgé et désactivé snapd auparavant (c'est la faute).

Le problème apparaît lorsque j'utilise les pilotes compatibles NVIDIA Ex. 435,440,450 avec prime on demand ou mode performance

C'est le problème, car ubuntu 20.04 utilise des paquets combinés (deb classique et snap).

Dans mon cas, la solution a été la suivante :

sudo apt install snapd
sudo snap install snap-store
sudo reboot

À la fin, dans Paramètres - Affichage, toutes les options apparaissent également pour le deuxième affichage (Joindre, Miroir, Simple) et NVidia fonctionne à nouveau.

J'ai découvert que prime-select écrit un fichier de configuration qui cause le problème. Il active l'option nvidia-drm modeset. Vous pouvez simplement annuler le changement effectué par prime-select en commentant cette option. Elle ne sera pas réinitialisée, car prime-select n'écrit ce fichier que lorsqu'il n'existe pas encore."

Ouvrez le fichier dans votre éditeur préféré (vim, nano, gedit, etc.).

sudo nano /lib/modprobe.d/nvidia-kms.conf

Et commentez l'option nvidia-drm modeset.
