Mise à jour vers 12.04, Xorg ne démarre pas, en utilisant l'écran XGI embarqué.

Je viens de mettre à jour un de mes serveurs vers 12.04 (à partir de 10.04), et Xorg ne démarre plus, pas plus que lightdm ou gdm.

Je regarde dans /var/log/lightdm/x-0.log :

Il semble donc vouloir utiliser un module xgi pour l'affichage, mais il n'en trouve pas. lspci révèle que j'ai bien une carte XGI embarquée :

C'est à peu près l'étendue de mes compétences en matière de diagnostic d'Xorg - je suis à l'aise avec la ligne de commande, mais je n'ai pas eu à m'occuper d'Xorg depuis les jours sombres de l'avantubuntu, c'est-à-dire depuis de nombreuses années.

Quelqu'un peut-il me suggérer ce que je dois faire ensuite ?

Je rencontre ce même problème après avoir installé les mises à jour aujourd'hui. Ubuntu 12.04 sur un Dell Optiplex 980, Intel Graphics (VGA et DisplayPort). En espérant une solution rapide...

J'ai cherché une solution à l'infini - la seule option viable que j'ai trouvée est d'acheter une carte graphique pcie bon marché avec un chipset mieux supporté. Ce serveur va être mis hors service en tant que boîte de production dans la semaine à venir, à ce moment-là j'installerai la carte graphique bon marché que j'ai récupérée avec un chipset nvidia et je verrai si cela résout le problème.

Pour ce que ça vaut, j'ai fait une installation propre d'Ubuntu 12.04 à partir du CD par-dessus l'ancien et tout s'est bien passé.

Assurez-vous que le paquet xserver-xorg-video-sis est installé :

sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-sis

Assurez-vous également qu'il est référencé correctement dans /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Je pense qu'il a changé de nom de xgi à sis en 12.04. Par exemple, dans /etc/X11/xorg.conf avoir :
